Our Story

Savannah Outsourced Finance was born from the experiences of one of our founders Duncan Sim during his tenure in a lead finance role for a UK-headquartered IT Consultancy firm. After some natural attrition in the UK finance team, the business decided to trial internally moving large elements of its finance operations to a newly formed finance team in its South African entity, replacing the more expensive UK operating model.

South Africa was viewed as a viable option due to the skilled talent pool available, limited time zone difference and English being widely spoken in the country. Also, the Covid pandemic had highlighted that the physical location of staff was largely irrelevant and the cost saving was welcome during the difficult economic environment.
After a short period of training several lower level finance tasks including Accounts payable assistance, bank reconciliations, accrual/prepayments postings and sales support/credit control assistance were successfully transitioned to the South African finance function.
Having seen how smoothly large elements of the UK finance function could be outsourced we felt there was an opportunity to use our knowledge of management accounting, financial data input and the South African talent pool to package a high quality and economical offering to clients.

We believe the resultant Savannah business is an ideal solution for companies looking for areas to either add temporary resource without using expensive contractor staff or combat rising costs and IR35 risks and achieve significant long term cost savings.
